During the 1st Session of the Internet Conference on Integrated Biosystems (1998) (http://home2.swipnet.se/~w-25860/icibs/), a request was made to the ICIBS organizers (United Nations University and UNESCO Microbial Resources Center) to investigate the possibilities of organizing an Internet Conference on Biotechnology in Africa.This is an invitation to all biotechnologists and scientists in the academia (medical, agricultural, engineering, environment; sustainable development, etc), as well as people in private and public sectors to join the discussion on the feasibility of organizing such a conference, to define scope, tasks and partnerships and to develop a plan of action. A personal and special invitation goes to people living or have on-going projects in Africa and also to the granting agencies, foundations as well as private persons who like to consider cash donations to the organization of the conference.
