The International Institute for Sustainable Development is looking for a Young Professional Intern to be placed for 6 months in the following position:

UNEP- KENYA Global Environment Outlook for Youth 6 Month Placement

Objectives The Global Environment Outlook (GEO) is a global environmental assessment process, producing regular reports which fully incorporate regional perspective and priorities. The GEO reports assess the state of the global environment, review current and emerging policy responses and identify emerging environmental issues.

The IISD intern will have first hand experience in coordination of sustainable development projects based on the GEO participatory assessment process.

DUTIES - Help coordinate and oversee GEO for the Youth Project - Help Coordinate the GEO Policy Working Group - Help Coordinate contacts with IISD and Environment Canada, especially in relation to UNEP/IISD GEO training project and its implementation. - Provide input and development into the GEO for Youth Report

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with youth and sustainable development projects - Experience in writing and editing - Knowledge of environment and development issues - Knowledge of the United Nations Environment Program - Master's in Environmental Science, International Development, - International Relations, Political Science, Natural Resource Management preferred - Experience with Internet Research and electronic commuications

*** For all positions, applicants MUST be **** Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants Underemployed or Unemployed Between the ages of 19 and 29 Recent Graduates of University or College

Start Date: August/September
