New developments at The Centre for Sustainable Design, UK

* Towards Sustainable Product Design #4, 12-13th July 1999, Brussels: the event discussed the practicalities of managing eco-product development and ideas related to creation of sustainable solutions; there were papers from 20 high level speakers and over 150 delegates attended from over 20 countries

* Eco-design and supply chain management, 28th June 1999, London: over 70 delegates attended this conference which discussed the real life issues of implementing eco-design in the electronics sector with cases studies and papers highlighting the key role of suppy chain

* Visiting Professor in Sustainable Product Design: Martin Charter was awarded Europe's first professorship in SPD on 15th July 1999 by the Director and CEO of the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College for his contribution to work in this area

* Research positions at The Centre for Sustainable Design (CfSD): - CfSD are recruiting two researchers (salaries circa. 15k UK pounds each) covering: - Integrated Product Policy and eco-product development: focused on EC and European national approaches - Eco-innovation: focused on the practicalities of designing sustainable solutions e.g. 'Factor X' products, services or hybrids - PhDs places are available in sustainable product design, eco-design and management of eco-product development
