     Much extremely valuable information provided officially by the State
     Department (such as international per diem rates, the Background Notes
     on individual countries, lists of contacts and phone numbers) is now
     available through the "Dept. of State Foreign Affairs Network"
     (DOSFAN) hosted at the Univ. of Illinois, Chicago.  Both Web and
     gopher address is:
     dosfan.lib.uic.edu.   Most stuff is in ASCII files for easy
     downloading.
