Farmers and agricultural researchers from around the country will converge on the Research Center on July 22 to learn the latest in regenerative farming techniques at Family and Farm Independence Day.

Held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the day will include workshops given by progressive farmers such as Joel Salatin, one of America's most innovative beef and poultry graziers, and Dick and Sharon Thompson of Boone, Iowa, who made sustainable farming and on-farm research famous.

Workshop topics include how to choose and use cover crops, how to market organic grains, how to make and apply compost, intensive grazing, and more.

Attendance for the day is $55 per person, which includes four workshops and a tour of the Research Center. There will also be a variety of trade exhibits, equipment demonstrations and Q&A sessions with Research Center staff. For a brochure and registration form, write: Family Farm and Independence Day, 611 Siegfriedale Rd., Kutztown, PA 19530; or, call (610) 683-1400.
