LIVERPOOL SCHOOL OF TROPICAL MEDICINE
LIVERPOOL COORDINATOR OF THE MALARIA CONSORTIUM
With ODA support the School, in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), has recently established the Malaria Consortium to assist countries affected by malaria to increase the effectiveness, with which malaria is controlled.
Based in Liverpool, but travelling extensively, you will work in collaboration with the Malaria Consortium Head in LSHTM to develop the Consortium, respond to requests for assistance in development of health systems and disease control programmes related to malaria control, to organise field visits by consultants and to carry out administrative duties of the Malaria Consortium.
You should have experience in health service management, a relevant post-graduate or medical qualification and should have worked extensively on communicable disease control in a variety of developing countries. Experience in some aspects of malaria such as malaria control, planning, finance, administration, policy advising and linking with international organisations, donors and non-governmental organisations would be advantageous.
Salary will depend on experience and qualifications, falling within the lecturer/senior lecturer range. The appointment will be until end of March 1997, but is likely to be extended at least for a further year.
