Does anyone know where I could receive specific information on organic
farming options/practices/technologies?
I live in upstate NY and have a small field--only 10 acres--to plant. The
field is partly on a hill, and as one could imagine, I am losing much
topsoil to erosion, which also washes away the fertilizers. I am convinced
in the need to stop such damaging practices and would appreciate any and
all information people have on feasible organic methods. I heard that Cuba
has developed organic farming technology during the ban on fertilizers,
pesticides, and fuel imposed by the USA. At the same time I wasn't told
exactly what these methods were or how to contact anyone who knew.
Specifically, what can be done to stop the erosion? Perhaps the ultimate
answer is not to cultivate land that is so prone to erosion but at present
I don't have that choice. Maybe growing fruit trees and have another sort
of crop in between the rows to offset pests?
Thank you for your consideration, --Yvonne Stone--
