The reasons could be selfish, if they would selfish reasons of a reasonable man.
If this reasonable man thinks of the deprecitation threathening the whole human
civilization, which will finally affect himself too, this might be considered a
selfish reason. Unfortunately, most people don't think that far, and there are allways
politicians which use that short sight.
