  The WorldWID Fellowship Program at the University of Florida
         Announces a special recruitment for a Fellow in
    Small, Medium, and Microenterprise Development in Ukraine

Areas of interest for this fellowship

The Worldwide Women-in-Development (WorldWID) Fellows Program is recruiting a specialist in Economic Reform and Privatization for a one-year fellowship program that consists of training and orientation in Florida and Washington, D.C. and a field placement with the USAID Mission in Ukraine.

The successful applicant for this position will have an interest in the field of women in development (WID) / gender and develop- ment (GAD) and expertise in a field applicable to Small and Medium Enterprise Development and Microfinance Programs. This could include experience in running a business, teaching business management, or working to establish business incubators, microen- terprises, and other types of small businesses. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Description of the WorldWID Fellows Program ----------------------------------------------------------------- The WorldWID Fellows Program, managed by the University of Flori- da (UF) under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Global Bureau, Office of Women in Development, is intended to increase the number of U.S. citi- zens with technical expertise and gender analytical skills that can be used in the implementation of U.S. foreign assistance programs. Fellows participate in an educational program at UF and in Washington, DC that teaches them to integrate gender analytical skills in their areas of technical expertise and within USAID's development assistance programs. Fellows are then placed in a field assignment with a USAID Mission or program. Please see our web page (http://www.datexinc.com/worldwid/) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Qualifications ----------------------------------------------------------------- * United States citizenship; * Masters, Doctorate, or Law degree in a field related to busi- ness administration, public policy, economics, finance, or a related field; * Demonstrated expertise and technical knowledge of small busi- ness development and management, microenterprise and micro- finance; * Ability to work in a team; to take leadership when necessary, and ability to deal with competing priorities; * Excellent English writing skills; speaking knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian highly desired; * Experience working in a developing country, preferably the NIS; * Knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian culture; * Knowledge and/or experience in the field of WID or GAD; * Ability to begin one year assignment in late July, 1998 ----------------------------------------------------------------- What the fellowship includes ----------------------------------------------------------------- WorldWID Fellows receive a monthly stipend of $2,500. Travel and per diem for the training and orientation programs in Gaines- ville, FL and Washington, DC are provided, as well as interna- tional travel to the field Mission, and some other costs asso- ciated with the program. There is a possibility that the USAID Mission will provide housing for the WorldWID Fellow during the time the Fellow is working in the Ukraine (approximately 10 months).

We expect to begin the training and orientation program in late July, 1998, and to place the Fellow in Ukraine in early Septem- ber, 1998. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Review process ----------------------------------------------------------------- WorldWID will screen applications as received, and a provisional fellow will be selected as soon as possible.
