PROFILE OF CEEMAN-L INTERNET LIST
*****************************************************************
CEEMAN-L is an internet discussion list sponsored by the Central
and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN),
located in Slovenia. The list is managed by Dr. Dennis McConnell
at the Maine Business School (USA). The CEEMAN-L list currently
has 732 members in 46 countries. Most list members are represen-
tatives of business schools and economics programs in the CEE/NIS
regions (Baltics, Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and
the Russian Federation).
The list includes many CEEMAN members, and members of both the
Russian Association of Business Education (RABE) and the Central
Asian Foundation for Management Development (CAMAN). The list
also includes representatives from organizations such as the
International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), the Soros
Foundations, Peace Corps volunteers, and representatives from
many other organizations involved in management education activi-
ties in the CEE/NIS countries (AIESEC, ACCELS, ACTR, ACDI, CDC,
CEP, CNFA, CIPE, IESC, IIE, NAFSA, UNDP, USAID, USIA, and VOCA).
The primary purpose of CEEMAN-L is to provide information to
academics in CEE/NIS business schools/economic programs who have
been isolated from information sources for many years. The list
serves more as a bulletin board than as a traditional internet
discussion list. The list is moderated (all messages to list mem-
bers are first screened by the list manager) - a feature which
protects the e-mail budgets of list members who must pay substan-
tial fees to receive e-mail at some locations.
As list manager, my task is to monitor many electronic and print
information sources, to learn of new publications and informa-
tion resources, academic conferences, publishing and consulting
opportunities, and funding programs for research and academic
exchanges. Any information that would seem to be of interest to
CEE/NIS members is posted to CEEMAN-L. Some of the information
may be useful and/or interesting to list members in other re-
gions. But the primary purpose is to serve the information needs
of CEE/NIS members.
Faculty and administrators in business schools and economics pro-
grams in the CEE/NIS regions, and individuals interested in the
development of such programs, can be added to CEEMAN-L by sending
a message directly to me (mailto:mac@maine.maine.edu). Please provide
your name, e-mail address, postal address, institutional affilia-
tion, and academic/professional interests.
Since July 14, 1997 CEEMAN-L postings have been archived on a
University of Geneva website. Archived postings can be viewed
(and downloaded) by date, subject, author, or thread. The ar-
chives will provide an overview of the nature of CEEMAN-L post-
ings. Access the site (http://ecolu-info.unige.ch/archives/)
and, next to the "CEEMAN-L" entry, click on 1997 to view postings
in 1997, and on 1998 to see postings to date in the current year.
