I believe that Dr Mansoor Ali <mailto:s.m.ali@lboro.ac.uk> of WEDC (Water, Engineering and Development Cnetre) at the Loughborough University could be of some help to you. He has done extensive research on the solid waste management in Karachi, Pakistan.Also check publications by WEDC <http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/cv/wedc>.
