CANWEA, AWEA TO HOST WIND DIESEL WORKSHOP IN JUNE

The Ninth International CanWEA-AWEA Wind-Diesel Workshop will take place June 5-7 in Hanover, N.H., according to the organizers.

This year's workshop will emphasize "an interactive dialogue and discussion of problems and solutions in the design, marketing, and deployment of wind energy systems for utilities and communities depending on diesel electric generation," the workshop announcement said. Topics will include: wind turbine operation and reliability issues; case studies - village power and Arctic communities; economic value of windİdiesel systems; practical control issues; utility planning, risk and financial issues; and project and program successes and failures.

Demonstrations and exhibits at Atlantic Orient Corp., located in nearby Norwich, Vt., will also be part of the activities.

The registration fee for the event is $100 (students $65) prior to May 1 and $125 after that date. In addition to the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) and American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), sponsors include Natural Resources Canada, the Atlantic Wind Test Site, York Research Corp., Kotzebue (Alaska) Electric Association, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Island Technologies, Atlantic Orient Corp., New World Village Power, and HydroİQuebec.

Persons wishing to make an informal presentation are asked to submit an abastract or summary of their presentation and to indicate the length of time desired and the session in which they wish to be included. Those wishing to provide an exhibit or demonstration should submit a brief description. Please send these in with the registration form.
