NEW WORLD POWER CORP. AWARDED LAND RIGHTS
TO DEVELOP 60-MW WINDFARM IN GUATEMALA

Lime Rock, Conn., March 21--The New World Power Corp. announced today its selection by the municipality of Huite, Guatemala, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative International Limited (NRECIL) to develop up to a 60-MW windfarm on municipally-owned land in Huite, Guatemala.

New World Power will finance, construct, own and operate the 60-MW windfarm, selling its output to INDE, the national electric utility owned by the Guatemalan government. The first phase of the project, expected to cost $17 million, will consist of 15 MW of wind turbine capacity. Construction of the windfarm is scheduled to begin in 1996, and 15 MW will be in operation prior to the end of that year.

New World Power was selected for this project through a bidding process conducted through a collaboration between Huite, NRECIL, and the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). NRECIL serves as an advisor to municipalities on power projects. The role of AWEA in this bid solicitation was to serve as a technical advisor to the municipality in developing a competitive solicitation process. As land owner, Huite will receive royalties on the electricity produced from the windfarm.

New World Power produces and sells electric power generated from renewable resources, including wind sun and water, and also developes, manufactures and sells renewable power generating systems as well as related products and services.
