"...food aid at best, only treats the symptoms of hunger and poverty, not its causes."I'm all for attacking problems at the root, etc..., but aren't the symptoms of hunger and poverty "hurting people"? If I was starving, I don't think I would be critical of those giving me food, because they were wasting time and resources that could be used to attack root causes.
It may be that there are always winners and losers when you try to help hurting people. Instead of making broad sweeping criticisms of those who are trying to help, why not just pinpoint specific ways to do things better in specific situations where people are hurting right now?
