Pursuant to the information forwarded to this list about a death sentence given to a Baha'i by a court in Yazd, Iran, I am happy to pass on the news that the verdict has been "set aside" by the Supreme Court of Iran.I should point out that as far as I know, this decision does not affect death sentences given earlier to three other Baha'is, but not carried out. Nor, of course, does it in any way indicate that internationally mandated standards of human rights are accorded to members of the Baha'i religion in Iran.
I have a copy of a translation of the decision of the court in Yazd which I can forward to anyone interested. It provides an interesting insight into the current situation of Baha'is and others there.
