This is a request for information. Please reply if you have even the
smallest contribution to make, because I can use (and share) as much as
possible. I apologize to those for whom this message has no interest.

The end of the semester will be arriving (too) soon, and I will have to leave my beloved Brock University, but I hope that does not mean I will have to reduce my participation in the international discourse. For the beginning of the summer I should be able to continue receiving messages through my father's e-mail account, but then I am leaving for Japan, hopefully at the end of July.

I have one request.

I am hoping to continue being active in the international development community when I am living in Tokyo. My main concerns are communication between people of different cultures in the interests of improving interpersonal understanding and human rights throughout the world, along with any and all issues related to these. Naturally I intend to re-subscribe to the lists that I am presently on, from the e-mail account I will use in Tokyo, but most importantly I hope to have direct contact with individuals and organizations in Tokyo who/which deal with these and similar issues.

For the past year I have been the secretary for the student committee of The World University Services of Canada, here at Brock University. My contribution has consisted of helping spread information about the various human rights and development concerns of the world, both within Brock, the local St. Catharines community, and through the internet.

I am asking all of you for any information that you can provide, to help me find people and organizations in Japan. Names, addresses, contact numbers, etc. Likewise, if someone could give me a list of other resources (internet or other) it would be greatly appreciated.

Presently I do NOT have a job waiting for me in Tokyo, so I will be searching for one after I arrive. If any of you have any leads or ideas, I would like to hear (read) about those also. I have already taught English in Tokyo for four months, last summer, at various conversation schools. I would not mind doing so again, for a year, but I would prefer to have a job either related to International awareness/development, or one which deals with literature in some way, like English text editing. Unfortunately my Japanese language ability is not strong enough for daily communication, but I am learning fast. I will have an honors B.A. in English Literature and Liberal Studies by the end of May. I know a lot about computers, and I consider my experience with WUSC a great asset.

I am only asking for information. I intend to start researching every possible lead, as soon as I am finished writing my undergraduate thesis.

Thank you for any help.
