i come from sub sharan Africa and i really did not relate to the point of your arguement. there is nothing in my cultural background or that of the people around my that is adverse to technological advances. the problem is that the entire social infrastructure provides no incentives for the use of technology and does not support the successful integration of technology into society. e.g. computer use in limited to those who can provide reliable electricity supplies for themselves. hence when one buys a computer in Africa, you must also buy all the supporting systems: a generator, fuel, security etc. i can list more examples but you get the point. how can one then take full advantage of computer technology? seems to me it becomes rather difficult for the average joe to do so.
