On this week's program, we will be exploring the ethics of working
with the poor, and ethical issues which surround such efforts. Ralph
Kurtenbach will bring us a story reporting the accusation that U.S.
churches lack the will to end hunger, and an ecumenical program which
is being developed to address this issue. Then, Curt Cole reports on
efforts by the National Association of Evangelicals to address poverty
issues. Allen Graham comes along with a fascinating report on studies
of how compassion can be nurtured. Finally, we will talk with Harlan
Hale, Director of Emergency Services for Care International in Atlanta
regarding a code of ethics which relief and development groups have
drawn up.
The Least of These is a weekly radio program produced by HCJB, The
Voice of the Andes in Quito, Ecuador, South America. The title of the
program comes from the biblical reference in Matthew 25:40 where Jesus
Christ said,
"I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you
gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I
needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to me. Whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

The Least of These is broadcast on HCJB, The Voice of the Andes on the following Schedule:
