---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1998 19:54:35 +0100 From: Jacky Foo <mailto:foo@swipnet.se> To: Multiple recipients of list IAS-WG08 <mailto:IAS-WG08@MSIAS.IAS.UNU.EDU> Subject: [ICIBS'98] a general agenda for paper discussionsHi Everyone
After 6 months of preparation and in about 3 weeks time, we will be starting the discussion of the first paper of the Internet Conference on Integrated Bio-Systems; and thereafter there will be a new paper discussion every Monday. The conference is organized into two sessions, the first session is between April and June and the second is between October and December.
Each paper discussion will be conduct via a electronic mailing list (see http://home2.swipnet.se/~w-25860/icibs/prog.htm for details and http://home2.swipnet.se/~w-25860/icibs/prog.htm for registration) and will run for 3-4 weeks.
The general agenda for each paper discussion is:
(1) the first 2 weeks will permit to the author to convey her/his message, the author may wish to summarise again some of the important items in the paper. Participants are invited to pose questions to the author. In order to keep the interactions between the author and the participants focused, the mailing list will be moderated during these 2 weeks. This means that all messages will be forwarded to an editor who will then forward appropriate messages and questions to the mailing list. In some cases, the editor may remove part(s) of a message if deemed inappropriate. If these are general discussion questions, they will be reposted for discussion at the 3rd and 4th week.
(2) the 3rd and 4th week is for public discussion on issues related to the subject of the paper. Ideally the discussion will be unmoderated so that participants can interact freely with one another. But if essential especially when the discussion goes out of hand or the discussion starts to move outside the subject of the paper, the listowner may intervene by changing it into a moderated one.
The authors are free to make changes in the agenda if they wish.
