Athens, Georgia, USA, March 26, 1998 -- AVIS will be providing special discount rates for members of the International Development Network (IDN)(http://www.idn.org/), according to Christopher Byrne, Director of the IDN. In a contract signed by Avis and the IDN this week, members of the IDN will be eligible to receive 5-20% discounts on car rentals around the world, and these discounts will be applicable to business and personal travel.

In addition, members will receive bonus coupons for US$10.00 off of a weekly rental and for a free weekend day. Members will also accumulate frequent flyer miles on selected airlines when renting an AVIS car. Organizational members of the IDN will be able to provide these discounts to their employees.

"We see this as an important tool to give our members value-added services to thank them for their support of the International Development Network", said Mr. Byrne. "We hope to be able to provide more value-added benefits for our members as the network continues to grow."

Launched on February 23, 1998, the IDN has welcomed over 1,300 visitors from over 15 countries to their web site. The IDN was created exists to provide a centralized, information resources and exchange center for development professionals around the world, as well as a source of development education information fore interested people.

In addition to the new benefits from AVIS, members receive rebates of 5-15% on books purchased through the IDN Bookstore, 15% rebates on magazines purchased through the IDN Newsstand, e-mail addresses, access to members-only discussion forums, access to consultant/vendor databases, and web space.
