"Managing Cultural Diversity in International Development and Business"

Tulane Institute for International Development (TIID) in association with the Human Resource Development and Institutional Strengthening Workgroup of the Society for International Development (SID) invites you to its March seminar under the 1999 Tulane International Development Seminar Series.

The workplace is culturally diversifying. Globalization means that all of us are increasingly challenged to work across national boundaries and across cultural boundaries, whether or not we leave our home country. Through foreign investment, immigration, expanded communications, and our own broadening spheres of influence, each of us is increasingly working with people of cultural backgrounds different from our own. This workplace diversity can be a source of creativity and stimulation or a source of communication pitfalls and frustration, depending upon whether we choose to manage the diversity or be managed by it. TIID’s March Seminar will introduce participants to the expanding research on cultural differences and to the basic concepts of Managing Cultural Diversity.

Speaker: Dr. Joyce Francis, Tulane University

Time: The seminar will be held on Thursday March 25th and commence at 5.30 p.m. and end at 7.00 p.m.

Venue: Tulane Institute for International Development 901 N. Stuart Street, Suite 1100 Arlington, Virginia 22203 (Ballston Metro; Street parking, and parking in 901 North Stuart available)
