Subject:      MONITORING SYSTEMS

Dear List members.
I am involved in assisting the Government in setting up reporting and
monitoring systems for the following sectors:

1. Primary Education 2. Primary Health 3. Rural Water Supply and Sanitation 4. Population

Basically I am designing Reporting Formats to track the following:

1. Budget/Releases/Expenditures 2. Policy reforms and major activities/Plans 3. Staffing 4. Important Development Projects 5. Training 6. Facilities status 7. Procurement 8. Inventroy 9. Equipment status 10. Community Participation NGOs activities 11. Quality Monitoring 12. Foreign Projects 13. Output and Services

The flow of information at present is as follows:

FACILITY LEVEL (thousands)--> District (100-150) --> Division (50) --> Province (1) - - - > National (1)

However given the scale of operation (ie. National and thousands of facilities) and the absence of computerized management information systems it becomes very difficult.

At present the Government has setup: - Educational Management Information System (EMIS annual census of schools etc) - Health Management Information System (HMIS monthly) - Development schemes information System (project/scheme wise) Data entry is very time consuming and difficult. Data quality is also poor.

We are planning to setup the following:

It is the process of setting up: - Personnel Management Information System other systems

I would be interested in exchanging ideas on the subject.

regards

Riaz Khan
