Announcement for DEVEL-L readers,

RAWOO, the Advisory Council for Scientific Research in Development Problems, holds a serie of lectures on Information Technology/Telematics in Developing Countries.

The first lecture has been given on the 26th of March by Mr. Chaparro of the World Bank. He spoke about "Investigating the digital world". Mr. Chaparro is deeply involved in the InfoDev initiative, begun the Spring of 1995, which aims at "helping developing countries integrate fully into the information economy by benefitting from the promise of information technology".

The second lecture has been given on the 23th of April by Prof. ir. Van Till of the Delft University of Technology. Discussant was Mr. Koster, general director of Toolnet. Title of this lecture was: "Information- and Communication Technology, How does it Help?!"

Next lecture in the series will be given on 28th of May by Prof. dr. June of the University of Amsterdam. Title of this lecture: "Digitalization: globalization and privatization".
