Dr. Briggs:We have no experience yet in the Middle East, directly in the DDM project, although our sister project, the Field Epidemiology Training Program, is in Saudi Arabia and in dialog with Oman. We've had some discussions with Egypt, but no project to date.
The assistance we offer is usually paid for by USAID, and comes from field support dollars under the AID missions in-country. We have no independant CDC funding to offer services.
Our activities are broad in focus--we tend not to concentrate on a single categorical program like reproductive health, but to build integrated systems that encompass the broad spectrum of issues that public health managers must consider, particularly at the district level where they're getting all kinds of demands from the categorical programs.
I'll be glad to address any more questions you may have,

Hi - Thanks for posting info on DDM. I hope you don't mind if I have some questions for you:
Any experience yet in the middle east? Who pays for the assistance and training that you offer? Do you have experience with reproductive health units of Ministries of Health?
We work in certain countries of the middle east and have some contacts w/ Health Ministries. And I know they could benefit from the type of work you are doing.
I'd be interested in hearing further. At this point we might consider putting out some feelers with our contacts there, but of course alot depends on whether you have any funding at all. Also, do you ever work in partnership with ngo's? (We are a nonprofit based in the UK and with some funding from the EU)
Thanks, Catherine Briggs, MD,MPH mailto:pifp@igc.apc.org (or this compuserve return address is also fine)
