Below is a portion of a message sent to me by a friend from ICTP in Trieste, Italy. They're working on a project to establish a university LAN and Internet connection to the University of Ile-Ife in Nigeria. The problem is that international dialup access is not feasible because of very poor lines.Maybe, someone on the list can suggest alternative access schemes to the Internet from Ile-Ife.

Hello Denis, thank you for info, we are just back from Nigeria ... There the local LAN is working ... but the international link is worst .....
At the moment only from Lsgos is possible to have a 9600 V32 link, from ILE-IFE nothing works ... :( :( .... Now we are looking around to find a reasonable solution ... VSAT ... RADIO .... What is essential is that we must give them, as soon as possible an international connection for e-mail.
