Colleagues: The Program in Aquaculture Ecosystems, Center for Regenerative Studies, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, is taking applications for (1) a summer internship in aquaculture ecosystems; (2) a graduate assistantship in wastewater aquaculture ecosystems for Fall 1996. The summer internship begins 1 June and the assistantship Sept. 15, 1996. Pay scales for both positions depend upon experience and qualifications, and follow State of California guidelines. Housing and food are available at the Center. The Program in Aquaculture Ecosystems of the CRS, Cal Poly Pomona, focuses upon research and education in the use of wastewaters and agricultural by-products for the development of integrated agriculture-aquaculture ecosystems worldwide. The research facilities include 1800 sq. meters of ponds having polycultures of tilapia and carps integrated with 2.5 acres of intensive organic agriculture and solar energy systems for aeration, plus 16, 2.3 cubic meter solar microcosms for research in aquatic microbial ecology, water quality, and use of agricultural by-products in aquaculture. Pond waters at the CRS drain to constructed wetlands. The CRS site is the focus of active research on restoration and regenerative ecology in native forestry, bird, and other species revisiting and reclaiming the site. A fully operational aquaculture water quality lab was added in 1996. Please send a letter plus a resume with two references (please include phone, fax and e-mail addresses) to: Dr. B.
