Dear Colleagues, The following message is a call for submissions for a consultation organised for Latin America. If you would need more details on the Consultation, please contact me (mailto:wwhande@dams.org) and I will forward you the relevant details.Looking forward to hearing from you.
You may already be aware of the World Commission on Dams which was established in 1998. It is an independent Commission set up through a multi-stakeholder process involving governments, NGOs, the private sector, utilities and multi-lateral institutions.
The World Commission on Dams will be holding its second regional consultation on the 12-13th of August 1999 in the Latin America Region. Attached please find copies of a call for submission of papers for the Latin America Region Consultation and the WCD information package. We welcome your contributions and would be grateful for your assistance in passing on the call for submissions to your various constituencies involved in the large dams debate.
The consultations are one of the tools WCD is using to bring together individuals and institutions with differing perspectives and experiences related to large dams. The consultation will enable the Commission to listen first hand to the unique experiences from the Latin America Region.
The Commission is seeking to reach a diverse range of stakeholders in Latin America through this process. Hence our request for your assistance in reaching out to your respective networks.
With best wishes
Yours sincerely, Achim Steiner Secretary General World Commission on Dams
