This used to be called gasohol and modified engines using gasohol have in
commercial operation in many parts of the world. Brazil is one of the
countries which saw widespread usage of gasohol in the 70's and 80's.
The trend has since changed due to the focus shifting from the ic engine.
The favoured technologies today are natural gas, electric power and LPG.

Naturally these technologies have the same problems of depletion of natural resources, pollution and warming. The electrical option being one of pollution elsewhere.

there is some material on ethanol and other gasoline substitutes, some where, I would have to look for it. On the larger question, the goal is to have lighter (ultralight) vehicles and have a multiplicity of solutions. We are working an an ultralight threewheeled two seater weighing 150 kgs.
