I recently asked for any information on impact studies of
micro-finance activities - thanks to those who responded and
for those who are interested I have copied the responses:

Sid Schuler at John Snow, Inc. (703) 528-7474 is doing studies on this area and its effects on fertility and health.

Contact Barbara MkNelly at Freedom from Hunger, tel (916) 758-6200. Her address is P.O. Box 2000, Davis, CA 95617.

Mahabub Hussain for IFPRI in 1984 (?) on measuring impact of Grameen on poor households is a good one -- used control groups and panel data over time; a more recent one by Shahid Khandekar at the World Bank on Grameen Bank

MSI study of Peace Corps micro-funded projects. Contact Molly Hedgback-MSI(202-484-7170).

USAID is working on a framework to assess these impacts.
