THE LEAST OF THESE Program Highlights HCJB--The Voice of the Andes November 24, 1997Papua New Guinea is experiencing drought and famine which are bordering on a catastrophe. We will have two reports this week, one from Curt Cole, the other from Allen Graham who paint a grim picture of the situation there. Then, we will be offering a special extended report from Diane Bailey of United Nations radio on the recent International Day to Eradicate Poverty program in New York. Her guests include Lynette Cameron, the winner of a UNDP award for her struggle to rise above poverty. Originally from Guyana, Ms. Cameron now lives in the United States. Also appearing on the program, South African Nadine Gordimer, Nobel Laureate for Literature (1991). The Least of These is a weekly radio program produced by HCJB, The Voice of the Andes in Quito, Ecuador, South America. The title of the program comes from the biblical reference in Matthew 25:40 where Jesus Christ said, "I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to me. Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
