IICD REVAMPS WEBSITE (http://www.iicd.org/)

The International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) has restyled its website. The site serves as a perfect starting point for gathering information on issues concerning Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and sustainable development. The new structure of the website provides the visitor with a clear view of the services and information offered by IICD.

The Website The E-journal gives the visitor the possibility to look up information on the latest issues concerning ICT and development. The E-journal section is divided into four themes: 'news', 'documentation', 'research' and 'upcoming events'.

The ICT Stories section is developed in co-operation with infoDev, a World Bank grant program for the innovative use of ICT. ICT Stories is set up to enable all parties involved in ICT and development to both publish and collect first hand experiences or 'lessons learned'. IICD and infoDev will award the best stories with a trip to a major international meeting, where they can present their ICT projects.

The Service Desk provides tailor made advice and support to those working in the field of ICT and sustainable development. Requests for advice can either be sent to: mailto:servicedesk@iicd.org or submitted through http://www.iicd.org/

The Projects section gives an overview of the developments of the project ideas that originated from IICD's ICT Roundtable conferences. Throughout the text links will be made to local counterparts, country information and other relevant sources.

Feedback In developing its site, IICD strives to be guided by the needs and demands of its clients/visitors. In order to adapt to these specific needs, feedback from our visitors is appreciated.

IICD IICD assists developing countries to keep up with the latest developments in ICTs. IICD places special emphasis on electronic communication applications that can be used to improve the range and the access to services such as health care, education, public information, and environmental protection, particularly by the underprivileged in society.

In developing its services, IICD will be guided primarily by the needs and demands as formulated by the developing countries themselves.
