The  Council on International Educational Exchange  is  currently
soliciting  letters of interest from candidates for the  position
of  Resident Director at Council's Study Center at  Charles  Uni-
versity, Prague, Czech Republic.

The Council on International Educational Exchange is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to helping people gain understanding, acquire knowledge, and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world. Found- ed in 1947, Council has developed a wide variety of programs and services primarily for students and teachers at secondary through university levels. Today, with 700 professionals working in 30 countries, Council has become one of the world's leading opera- tors of international exchange programs and related services.

The Resident Director's main responsibilities are to act as the on-site supervisor of the academic program at Charles University and to counsel and advise the students on personal adjustment to the study abroad situation. He or she also certifies to the home university of the students that the grades given and the work completed meet the standards of the home university. Other re- sponsibilities include arranging the participants' cultural activities and excursions for the program and acting as liaison between students and faculty as well as between Czech administra- tors and Council headquarters in New York.

Preference will be given to candidates available for a 2-year appointment. Candidates for Resident Director should hold at least a Master's Degree in East European Studies or a related field; Ph.D. holders preferred.
