October 10, 1995Dear Colleague:
The College of Business Administration at The University of Iowa is seeking an experienced professional to oversee the development, promotion, and management of our Institute for Entrepreneurial Management. We'd like to ask your assistance in identifying outstanding candidates for this position.
The Institute for Entrepreneurial Management is a collaboration between The University of Iowa's College of Business Administration, College of Engineering, and Health Sciences Colleges (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Dentistry). It was established in 1986 to serve students and Iowans who wish to gain the knowledge and assistance required for starting new enterprises. During the 1994 academic year, 580 students were enrolled in entrepreneurial courses at The University of Iowa in graduate and undergraduate levels. A total of 16 courses currently exist or are in the planning stages for completion in 1996. Last year the Institute sponsored an exciting summer camp for grade school youth, an evening seminar for community residents interested in creating their own businesses, a series of one-day seminars for medical personnel experiencing change in the workplace, and a semester-long course (Innovation and Change) to multiple campuses across the state using the interactive Iowa Communications Network. The Institute also provided student consulting to 22 area companies.
The director's duties will include developing, teaching or staffing credit and non-credit courses and seminars in entrepreneurship, advising clients, publicizing the activities of the Institute, developing ties between the Institute and business community, and serving as a resource for product development. A complete description of the position is enclosed.
If you know of individuals who might be interested in this position, please encourage them to apply. We will be accepting applications through November 6,1995. Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Rose Rennekamp Chair, Search Committee
