Dr. Chambers received her Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. She joined the U.S. Agency for International Development in 1989 on an American Association for the Advancement of Science fellowship. She is currently a U.S. Department of Agriculture employee on appointment to the USAID Global Bureau's Office of Agriculture and Food Security, which provides advice on agricultural biotechnology to USAID field offices. Dr. Chambers also advises the Agency on matters related to intellectual property protection, biosafety and agribusiness. Her international experience includes extensive travel to Africa, Asia and Latin America.
