The Least of These Program Highlights HCJB--The Voice of the Andes October 6, 1997On this week's program we offer a variety of reports. John Adams tells us about a United Nations global telethon for hunger. Then, Steve Whitehouse reports on how silk work production in Sri Lanka is helping with income and assisting with sustainable development. Next, we focus on Miami, Florida where World Relief is addressing numerous issues with the needy. Allen Graham tells about one woman who was helped with food and income, and then we talk with Tom Willey, director of the project who talks about how welfare reform has affected many, and how churches are responding. The Least of These is a weekly radio program produced by HCJB, The Voice of the Andes in Quito, Ecuador, South America. The title of the program comes from the biblical reference in Matthew 25:40 where Jesus Christ said, "I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to me. Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
