The Least of These Program Highlights HCJB--The Voice of the Andes October 27, 1997Mexico is the focus of this week's radio program "The Least of These" on HCJB. We'll dig through the conflicting statistics, learn how Hurricane Pauline affected the poor people around Acupulco and hear how help is being delivered. Our guest is Arne Bergstrom, Director of Emergency Services for World Relief. In addition, we'll hear several reports coming out of the recent observance of World Food Day. Curt Cole will challenge the myth that an improving economy had reduced hunger. Allen Graham reports some mind-staggering statistics on hunger, and Jim Wilbar will tell us that in spite of growing needs, government aid is dropping. The program will round out with a report from Paul Bell on the scourge of AIDS worldwide. The Least of These is a weekly radio program produced by HCJB, The Voice of the Andes in Quito, Ecuador, South America. The title of the program comes from the biblical reference in Matthew 25:40 where Jesus Christ said, "I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to me. Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
