The Brasilia - DC Partners survey on community bank starts to
receive the waited answers. From InterAction, a e-mail tells us
they don't work directly with credit to the poor, but their
associates do. From Results, a very explanatory letter about
the way Results works, lobbying institutions to fight hunger and
misery, also an interesting newsletter. But their objectives don't
include directly loans to the poor. From the Tricle Up Program,
a very complete set of information including a kind letter, newsletters,
forms, reports etc. They don't lend - they give small grants to
the poorest of the poor desiring to boost their microenterprises.

Yesterday night we sent messages to every organization and experts available by e-mail about local currency. I found all this important material at http://www.prairienet.org/community/religion/idf/currency.html We will start to implement something as local currency in Santa Maria, as a coupon or ticket to be given to the local volunteer community workers, and they will be able to use it to buy their basic food supply the government plans to "give" to fight acute hunger conditions. More later, in e-news # 22. Good bye!

P.S. Does anyone know the e-address of Results and/or Maria Saivo, in D.C.? Thanks. ______________________________________________________________ Joaquim Moura Youth & Citizenship Development Commission Partners of the Americas - Brasilia / Washington DC Committee SHCGN 713 - Bloco I - Apt. 202 - 70760-739 - Brazil Phone (55 61): 414-1780 (w); 273-5613 (h); 414-1898 (fax)
