Dear Joaquim/list members,
The FAO developed a PC-based software package which may address the
needs expressed here. I am not intimately familiar with the product,
called MicroBanker, but I know it has been very successfully
implemented in several developing countries.
For find out more about it, I suggest those interested contact the
project directly:
mailto:MICROBANKER@field.fao.org
Best regards,
DDion

Dear Khan,
Your project is really very welcome, and I'd like to prepare
its version in Portuguese, if you don't mind.
Another suggestion:
Include a section on management of micro credit systems, you
know, micro loans to the poorest of the poor, model Grameen Bank
or by many different kinds of agencies, from huge governmental
banks to small community co-ops and associations. I have been
trying to set up such kind of software, including data about
the borrowers, their business, the amounts lent, the terms,
default rates, impact evaluations etc...,
but I was not able to develop it by myself. Some people from
Devel-l communicate that they would like to participate in such
a project, but we didn't have anybody really able to program the
system, I suppose. But I can get their names from my files, if
you enjoy the idea of exchanging your ideas with other
concerned and experimented people.
