DEVEL-L:ideas of "appropriate technology" still respected?

As far as a remember the main thrust of Schumacher's work was not on the
technological quality/content of the technology, but on the scale - hence
the title: Small is Beautiful. Appropiate technologies are appropriate
because they 'fit' - they are the right size. Intermediate technology
(according the Schumacher), I think, is not intermediate because it is 'on
the way to' full technology, but intermediate being between small and big.
Correct me if I'm wrong...
