I just bought a copy of Mander & Goldsmith's "The Case Against the Global
Economy".  It seems to address this issue ("appropriate technology") very
thoroughly, crawling into all the nooks and crannies as best it can - in
550 or so pages. I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned here yet.
Anybody else looked at it yet?
