Hello Brian, That is a laudable project and thank you very much for the help. Please do collaborate with the school and find out the possibility of purchasing the computers in Ghana. I strongly believe that the cost of the ten computers plus shipping from SF to Accra will be able to provide this school with more than 10 computers from Accra, with easy acess to repairs when there is a problem. I applaud the efforts you are making, and assure you that those school children deeply appreciate the assistance so much. I have a similar school project going on in Ghana and was there in the summer, believe me they are very appreciative of anything that will improve their education. God Bless you.Dr. S. #-Hello, #- #-I am providing technical assistance to a school in Ghana, Africa which #-is building a small computer laboratory. We're now to the point of #-obtaining computer equipment; shortly I will begin refurbishing equipment #-and obtaining software licenses. I plan to build 10 networked systems. #- #-A major issue to be worked out is shipping: how to get the equipment from #-San Francisco, California to the port of Accra, Ghana. #-The trans-atlantic shipping companies I've contacted charge US$8.00/sq-foot #-plus port fees, well outside of the budget. In Ghana, Customs charges #-15% of the cargo's value. #- #-Any pointers/suggestions on how to get this equipment to Ghana would be #-greatly appreciated. I hope to be ready for shipment by December 1 of #-this year. I apologize in advance for my ignorance in this matter. #- #-Very sincerely, #- #-Brian Rankin #-
