I am writing in reference to recent questions about video over Lans. The Network Connection, 1324 Union Hill Road, Alpharetta, GA 30201 has an excellent system for full motion video over local area networks with real time compression. 800-327-4853 or 404-751-0889 or FAX: 404-751-1884. Before anyone asks, we don't have it here at the University of Maryland yet, but I certainly would like to.
>From their brochure: "The TNX/C Encoder System compresses the video using
MPEG technology and feed the compressed video to the M2V server for storage and retrieval of PLV, DVI, JPEG, and AVI files at resolution of 1024 x 768. The server, which runs under Windows NT, features symmetrical multi-processing with support for up to six processors and uses a TRAC, Triumph RAID Accelerated Controller, to speed video off the drives. The server supports 120 simultaneous PC or MAC users accessing video over Ethernet Lans. A high end M2V Video File Server configuration might have 52GB of disk space, providing 100 hours of video storage."I have seen more than one demonstration and it is an extremely impressive product. There is a vendor in Maryland that is working closely with TNC. They are CCS Systems, Inc. 5200 Philadelphia Way, Lanham, MD 20706. 301-577-3377. FAX: 301-577-8433. Michael Zitzmann, VP Sales and Marketing.
TNC has a large number of government and corporate clients including CNN. Anyone interested in video over a Lan should contact them for more information.
