It will do up to 12 bits of grey scale (4096 levels). The resolution is adjustable. The image they were using for a demo, was an X-RAY that was about 14"x17". The scanner and driver software (no application) sells for $16,000 US. If you would like any more info, let me know & I'll post it here.
