We have been examining database software to manage images.  A number of medical
schools have successfully used Claris' Filemaker Pro.  We are also assessing a
more costly software which manages text and images.  Filemaker Pro however, has
come very highly recommended.  I have just receive a copy of it and am
beginning to review it thus I can offer no first hand advice.
