We have just begun Filemaker Pro for a job tracking/billing program. Do keep in mind that it is a flat field manager rather than a relational database. I know several photographers that are using Filemaker Pro to incorporate images into databases with good success, so I believe what your are suggesting is possible. We had migrated from Reflex (by borland if I recall correctly) which was also a flat field database manager. Reflex was somewhat limiting in the number of records that you could store, and searches were becoming exceedingly long. We have just made the switch to Filemaker, so I'm not sure whether there is any advantage in search time or number of maximum records, but the interface does seem to be a little more user friendly, and it is able to run cross platform between the Mac and PC/Windows users on our network.

Just my $.02 worth.
