About finding a good CD-R recorder, there are some considerations to do.
CD-R recorders are sometimes optimized for special types of CD-R media. Unfortunately is it sometimes difficult to find
ut which type of media to select for your recorder. The vendor often just recommend the CD-R media that they have in sto
k without knowing if they are suitable for the recorder.

There are compatibility problems between writers and media. Most of the problems will be invivible for the users, since hese problems will be inferior for the daily use. But you might find that your CD-R cannot be read on some CD-drives bec use they do not comply with the standards for CD-R media.

Then ofcourse if you want to store your CD-R media for years you have to consider the permanence of the media. The discu sion about CD-R permanence is interesting but I will save this issue for later discussions, but keep in mind that, CD-R media permanence is very dependent of how well the media was originally recorded.

A thumbrule is that CD-R recorders from Asia works best with Asian CD-R media and the same with European/American. This s due to the specific writingstrategy, that is very important to obtain the best results during recording. There are as ell many other parameters to take in consideration, but again this woulk take hours to explain.

If you are going to save important work for years to come on CD-R and are going to record many discs, then I would advis you to write a CD-R disc on the equipment you have selected, and have this disc tested on a professional test equipment

One that do tests on CD-R media is Audio Development at: http://www.audiodev.com the price for one test is approx. 100 U $.

I will not recommend one brand in favour for others, since it makes no sence if you use the wrong media, hardware, softw re etc.
