Signatures wash out with little manipulation, especially in grayscale JPEG images, and we want to ensure that our images are traceable beyond our website. I remember a lot of hype in the late nineties about a product that NEC and IBM were working on together that promised some amazing results, but I haven't found recent mention of it.
