<pre> Colour profiles are extremely useful and the only way to assure a true colour on various platforms and systems (providin
systems are calibrated to the same standards and use colour management software). We've been using Phase One with ICC p ofiles ane it worked brilliantly for us. You should not worry about the profile being embedded into TIFF header. If so tware won't understand it, it will ignore it so the image won't be compromised. Also, from what I understand, the ICC p ofile is generally a text file and I assume it won't be a problem to extract it from a TIFF header like any other tag. I
ICC profiles won't be understandable in ten years time it won't matter if you have them in a Tiff tag or as a separate file.

I have been relunctant to embed ICC profiles in the TIFF header of an image file, which is an option with the PhaseOne s ftware that comes with the PowerPhase camera, for fear that software 10 years from now may not understand the embedded p ofile. What I have chosen to do instead is burn a copy of the ICC profile to each CD of archived images, with instructi ns to apply that profile when manipulation images in PhotoShop, for example. Does this make sense? What are other peop e doing?
