<pre> I apologize if I'm posting to an inappropriate group - if so, I'd appreciate suggestions for alternate groups. We are on the verge of purchasing a scanner. We'd like to scan some bound volumes then OCR the results to create a searcheable version of the volumes. Can anyone recommend a scanner with feeder, and OCR software? The total number of pages to scan is around 10,000. Alternatively, does outsourcing produce better quality OCR, or can it be done at lower cost? What are the issues when it comes to removing the binding for the volumes so they can be fed into the scanner? Again, is it better to have an external company take care of this as part of the scanning job?

    Thank you,
