We'd like some advice. We are a large public library art division. We want to get into computer imaging, and we have the chance to request funds. Some possible applications we see are: - art images on CD-ROM - copyright free clip art on CD-ROM - general image collections on CD-ROM - hardcopy general image collection scanned in-house - local business clippings file scanned in-house, eventually networked - local history clippings and eventually photos scanned & networked - public access to Internet imagesWe need to begin. All we have now are periodical indexes and text databases on CD-ROM. Can anyone advise us on - hardware - software - CD-ROM products - useful books and magazine articles - where to start - problems - pitfalls - etc.?
Thanks, Susan Shippey, Art Division, Rochester Public Library mailto:RPL2@transit.nyser.net
